Chowara Shri Dharma Shastha Temple

Chowara Sree Dharma Sastha temple is situated at Adimalathura, Kazhivoor, (in the middle of Vizhinjam and Poovar on Chappath coastline) in Thiruvananthapuram region, Kerala. The shrine is one among the 108 Ayyappa sanctuaries in Kerala. The sanctuary is known as SriPoorkkavu in Thottam Pattu.

The temple is situated on a slope. The Upa Devatas loved in the sanctuary are Ganapathy, Durga, Nagam and Shiva.

According to history the temple had a place with Mooriyathotam family. Marthanda Varma who was being pursued by Ettuveetil Pillamar had taken shelter in the place of Mooriyathotam family. Ettuveetil Pillamar torched the house. However, wonderfully nothing happened to the puja room. The puja didn’t consume in light of the presence of Ayyappa. Whenever Marthandavarma became lord he constructed a sanctuary here and gave land for the support of the shrine.
